Building pluckhired: Turning a Hiring Problem into a Digital Platform
Project: pluckhired
Challenge
Hiring in the service sector is broken. Traditional job applications rely on resumes and lengthy forms that rarely capture the qualities employers actually value, such as personality, energy, reliability, and communication.
At the same time, employers face high turnover and spend significant time reviewing applications that reveal very little about a candidate’s real potential.
The challenge was to rethink the hiring process entirely: how could we make job discovery faster, more human, and more aligned with how younger job seekers communicate today?
Objective
- Develop a new hiring platform designed specifically for service-sector jobs
- Replace traditional resume-heavy applications with short video introductions
- Create a brand that speaks to both employers and job seekers
- Build a digital product from concept to launch
- Establish a clear value proposition in a crowded recruitment technology space
Solution
1. Concept Development
The idea behind pluckhired emerged from observing a growing disconnect between employers and job seekers. Many entry-level and service jobs depend heavily on personality and attitude, yet hiring decisions rely on static resumes.
The platform was designed around a simple idea: let people show who they are, not just list what they’ve done.
2. Brand Strategy & Messaging
Developed the brand identity and narrative, including the concept behind the name pluckhired highlighting courage, initiative, and personality in the hiring process.
Created the core messaging framework, website copy, and positioning that explains the platform’s value to both sides of the marketplace.
3. Product Development Collaboration
Worked closely with developers throughout the app creation process, helping shape user experience, onboarding flows, messaging inside the platform, and overall product direction.
This included:
- Feature definition
- User journey design
- Platform messaging and interface copy
- Employer and candidate onboarding structure
4. Platform Launch Strategy
Led the development of the public-facing website, launch messaging, and early promotional strategy to introduce the concept to potential users and partners.
The platform’s slogan “get seen, get hired” reflects the core value proposition: visibility leads to opportunity.
Impact
The pluckhired brand represents a full-cycle innovation project from idea to execution.
Key contributions included:
- Concept ideation and product vision
- Brand identity and narrative development
- Website copy and platform messaging
- Collaboration on app development and user experience
- Launch strategy and positioning
The result is a modern hiring platform that reimagines how employers and job seekers connect, shifting the process from static resumes to human interaction.
The pluckhired project demonstrates how strategic communication, product thinking, and storytelling can shape not just a brand, but an entirely new approach to hiring.
